ISLAMABAD: On an invitation from Acting Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir, a 50-member delegation of students and faculty from the University of Lahore and the University of Plymouth visited the Parliament House in Islamabad. The visitors were welcomed by officials from the Senate Secretariat.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the delegation toured significant sites within the Parliament building, including Gali-e-Dastoor, the Senate Museum, the Senate Hall, and the Assembly Hall. At the Senate Museum, they received a briefing on the country’s parliamentary history, legislative processes, and the Senate’s role in national governance. A documentary on the history of the Senate and key parliamentary milestones was shown to the group.

During their visit to the Senate Hall, the delegation was provided with detailed insights into the procedures of the upper house sessions, the stages of legislation, and the parliamentary committee system. The importance of committees in effective lawmaking was emphasized. The delegation also visited the National Assembly Hall.

At Gali-e-Dastoor, the visitors learned about the drafting of the Constitution of Pakistan and significant phases in the country’s constitutional history. The delegation expressed gratitude to the Senate Secretariat for the opportunity, describing the experience as informative and valuable.
