Student Councils as Crucibles for Leadership, Says Former Employers Federation President

KARACHI: Majyd Aziz, the Former President of the Employers Federation of Pakistan, urged members of the Millenium Institute of Technology and Entrepreneurship (MITE) Student Council to view themselves as leaders charged with the responsibility of inclusiveness and avoiding negative politics. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the objectives and demands of all students.

According to Employers’ Federation of Pakistan, Aziz conveyed that the experiences and lessons learned during their tenure would significantly benefit their future leadership roles, whether in trade bodies, professional organizations, or their careers. He highlighted that, in a corporate human resources setting, more consideration might be given to leaders of student councils over other groups such as the Rotary Club or Lions Club.

Aziz expressed a desire to see MITE become a globally recognized institution, which would instill pride in its alumni. Reflecting on his own career, he noted that his leadership roles in various organizations were bolstered by the respect and honor he earned through honesty, courage, and passion. Aziz shared a personal wish that he had led a student council during his university days, both in Pakistan and the USA, as it would have provided valuable experience for future leadership opportunities.
