Istanbul: The Strategic Political and Defence Committee, formed under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, is set to hold its inaugural meeting in Istanbul, Türkiye, on Monday. The meeting will see representation from Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia, focusing on enhancing regional peace and stability.
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The meeting will also include the participation of Foreign Ministers, Defence Ministers, and Chiefs of General Staff from Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan’s involvement is seen as a reaffirmation of its historic ties with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, as well as its commitment to promoting regional harmony.
