Islamabad: The Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony convened under the leadership of Ms. Shagufta Jumani, MNA, to review the facilitation of parliamentary delegations visiting Saudi Arabia, the selection criteria for Moavineen for Hajj duties, and the revised Ziarat Policy. The Committee expressed significant concerns about the treatment of parliamentary delegations, the transparency of the selection process for Hajj duties, and the implementation of the new Ziarat framework.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Committee raised issues regarding the facilitation of a recent parliamentary delegation to Saudi Arabia, highlighting discrepancies in transportation, accommodation, and meeting coordination. The Committee demanded a detailed report from the Ministry, outlining the arrangements made for the delegation. Additionally, concerns were raised about the revised selection criteria for Moavineen and the fairness of the testing mechanism, prompting a call for an accountable and transparent process.

Further discussion focused on the revised Ziarat Policy, which aims to regulate the management of Zaireen through registered Zaireen Group Organizers (ZGOs). The Committee emphasized the importance of effective oversight and accountability in the new system. A Sub-Committee was formed to delve deeper into these issues, with a directive to the Ministry to provide necessary data and follow-ups. The meeting underlined the need for transparency and accountability in handling matters related to Hajj and Ziarat operations.
