New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Prince Rahim Aga Khan V held a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session in New York, focusing on peace, stability, and development in Pakistan. Both leaders expressed mutual admiration for each other’s efforts in fostering positive relations and advancing socio-economic objectives.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged Prince Rahim Aga Khan’s dedication to maintaining strong ties with Pakistan, emphasizing the Ismaili community’s contributions to the country’s socio-economic development. The Prime Minister highlighted the role of Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) institutions in promoting financial inclusion, tourism, and cultural preservation, underscoring the potential for further collaboration in these areas to promote sustainable development.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan praised Prime Minister Sharif’s commitment to regional peace and stability amid ongoing regional conflicts. He emphasized his intent to enhance the enduring partnership between Pakistan and the AKDN, expressing a desire to broaden cooperation in human development, particularly in healthcare, education, climate resilience, and sustainable socio-economic initiatives for the benefit of Pakistan’s populace.
