Islamabad: The Standing Committee on Water Resources convened its 12th meeting today, led by Chairman Mr. Ahmad Atteeq Anwer, MNA, to discuss the progress of the K-IV Project and review “The WAPDA Security Force Bill, 2026”. The committee meeting, held in Committee Room No.7 at the Parliament House, focused on ensuring the timely completion of key water infrastructure projects and the examination of proposed water resource legislation.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Chairman of WAPDA reported that the K-IV Project segment under WAPDA’s jurisdiction is on track for completion by 2027 with the necessary funding already secured. The committee insisted on the attendance of various government officials, including the Chief Secretary and Secretary of the Irrigation Department from the Government of Sindh, as well as the CEO of KW & SC and the Project Director of the K-IV Project, at the next meeting to ensure continued oversight.
The committee further engaged in discussions regarding “The WAPDA Security Force Bill, 2026”. It was decided that a detailed comparative analysis of the proposed bill should be presented before the committee in the subsequent meeting. Attendees included notable MNAs such as Ms. Shamaila Rana, Mr. Mehmood Qadir Khan, and others, alongside the Federal Minister for Water Resources, Mian Muhammad Mueen Watto, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Water Resources, Ms. Rana Ansar.
