Standing Committee on Commerce meets 

Islamabad, October 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):A meeting of the Standing Committee on Commerce was held today, the 30th September 2022 at 11.30 am in Board Room TCP, Karachi, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Raza Rabbani Khar, MNA. The Chairman, Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), briefed the committee about the functions and performance of TCP and said that the corporation import wheat, fertilizer and cotton on the instructions of the federal government.

He pointed out certain areas where he seek the help of the Committee. The Chairman appreciated efforts of Chairman TCP taken for the betterment of the institution and offered him full support in the best interest of the growers and the country. Chairman Raza Rabbani Khar said that if our support benefit poor farmers, and beloved country, we will definitely help you in all the matters.

The Committee directed the TCP authorities to ensure import of quality wheat and mechanism so that the quality of floor not be compromised at any level. The Committee also directed that TCP take concrete steps to recover 91,756.802 million rupees debits from the Federal and Provincial governments and departments. The Committee recommended that the Federal Government may consider to allow TCP for trading for the private sector as well.

The Committee decided to invite PASCO and PPRA in the next meeting of the Committee. The Standing Committee on Commerce, under the chairmanship of Raza Rabbani Khar Sahib visited the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in the evening and met with the office bearers and the members of the Federation.

The President FPCCI briefed the Committee on working of the FPCCI and Committee and their role in the economy. The Chairman said that the businessmen are backbone of our country. The Committee will address all the issues raised in today’s meeting. The meeting was attended by Ms. Shaita Pervaiz, Ms Shaza Fatima Khawaj, Mr. Usman Ibraheem, Mr. Razheed Ahmed Khan, and Ms. Wajiha Qamar, MNAs.
