Special Investment Facilitation Council Advances Mining and Mineral Sector Initiatives


Islamabad, The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has prioritized the advancement of policy initiatives in the mining and mineral sector, leading to significant developments over the past year.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the importance of this sector has led to the establishment of a Mineral and Mining Wing under the Ministry of Petroleum. This new wing will be headed by a Special Secretary. Additionally, directives have been issued to expedite the feasibility study for the mining of pink salt, ensuring the project commences on schedule. Furthermore, a national policy is being developed to enhance mining management.



The Mining and Minerals Division, using the SIFC platform, has identified five potential projects in Chaghi, Gwadar, and Waziristan, which are of particular interest to the United Arab Emirates.
