ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has emphasized the need for a sustainable approach to wildlife conservation in Pakistan, highlighting the significance of protecting natural habitats and engaging local communities. Speaking at a gala dinner organized by Safari Club International (SCI) Pakistan, Sadiq underscored the importance of responsible stewardship for preserving the country’s rich biodiversity.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the event, held in Islamabad, brought together federal ministers, parliamentarians, conservation experts, and other stakeholders to discuss wildlife conservation and responsible resource use. Sadiq reminisced about his youth, recalling hunting with friends and the absence of digital distractions, which fostered a deep connection with nature.

Sadiq praised the efforts of SCI Pakistan Chapter Chairman Syed Sumsam Ali Bukhari and the organization’s members for their work in wildlife conservation and habitat preservation. He also expressed concern over environmental degradation, including glacier melting and flood-related losses, stressing the urgent need for green energy solutions.

The Speaker highlighted initiatives such as the water-harvesting project at Parliament House and proposed a resolution to curb unnecessary tree cutting and promote water conservation in new constructions. He called for an end to poaching and advocated for scientifically managed breeding and conservation programs.

Sadiq extended an invitation to international SCI members to explore Pakistan’s diverse landscapes and presented awards to conservationists and stakeholders, with Federal Minister for Defence Production Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj also recognizing contributors to wildlife conservation efforts.
