KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced the restructuring of the province’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Unit into a private limited company. The move aims to create a more autonomous and commercially agile PPP ecosystem to support development across vital sectors.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Mr. Shah at the CM House, attended by various senior officials, including Syed Qasim Naveed, the Special Assistant to the CM on Investment, and Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah. The existing PPP programme has been recognized as a leading initiative within Pakistan, with accolades from international platforms such as the UNECE PPP Forum and The Asset Infrastructure Awards.

The transition to a private limited company is expected to allow the new entity to effectively promote and facilitate PPP projects, assist procuring agencies, and strengthen departmental PPP nodes. By building capacity and monitoring portfolio performance, the company aims to remove operational bottlenecks and retain specialized professionals crucial for project development and implementation. The restructuring is intended to enhance administrative efficiency, facilitate innovative financing, and boost investor confidence, ultimately accelerating the delivery of development projects in Sindh.

The new PPP Private Limited Company is set to have greater commercial flexibility, enabling it to undertake strategic activities, make equity investments, and mobilize capital through financial instruments. The chief minister emphasized the importance of robust governance, transparent performance reviews, and statutory oversight to ensure accountability and efficiency in processing projects. This transformation is seen as a step towards establishing a sustainable and responsive PPP institution that contributes significantly to Sindh’s progress and prosperity.
