Sindh Police Clarifies Misconceptions About New Training Medical Policy

Karachi: In response to recent misrepresentations on a private channel, Sindh Police has issued a clarification regarding its 2024 Training Medical Policy, aimed at fostering a healthier, more vigorous police force. The policy, which is part of efforts to instill principles of hygiene and physical fitness in police training, has been incorrectly linked to officer promotions and misrepresented in its scope and intent.

According to Sindh Police, the new policy is designed to ensure that only physically and mentally fit personnel are selected for departmental training, contrary to reports suggesting it influences promotions. The initiative introduces 10 essential steps, including the establishment of top-notch medical centers at training institutes and a structured accountability mechanism to monitor trainees’ health.

The policy also includes provisions for emergency medical responses and continuous health monitoring. Trainees are required to provide a formal affidavit confirming their health status, and any lapses in health will be their own responsibility. In cases of medical unfitness, trainees will be sent back to their units, and a Board of Inquiry will investigate any deaths at training centers, reporting findings within a week.

Sindh Police emphasizes that this policy aligns with government priorities and public expectations, contributing to an effective policing setup geared towards crime prevention. The force, known for its dedication to the welfare of its personnel and their families, continues to uphold the values of diligence, competence, and preparedness in its ranks.
