KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has pledged his administration’s commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and countering extremism, in collaboration with leaders from various religious communities. The announcement was made during a meeting with the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee (NPAC) and the Provincial Paigham-e-Aman Committee (PPAC) Sindh, led by Coordinator Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting, held at the CM House, included participation from senior government officials, religious scholars, and minority representatives. The Chief Minister emphasized Sindh’s historical role as a land of coexistence and cultural diversity, citing the province’s Sufi traditions as a foundation for peace and social cohesion. He reiterated his government’s focus on protecting constitutional rights and ensuring equal opportunities for minority communities.
During the event, Murad Ali Shah highlighted the provincial government’s efforts to facilitate peaceful religious observance and underscored the importance of a coordinated approach involving various societal segments to combat extremism and sectarianism. He also called for enhanced interfaith dialogue and engagement with minority communities to foster national unity.
Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi expressed gratitude for the Sindh Government’s support in promoting religious harmony. He called for national unity and urged political forces to resolve differences through democratic means, highlighting the importance of protecting national institutions.
Allama Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, stressed the role of dialogue in achieving greater societal understanding and emphasized the link between peace and economic prosperity. Minority representative Rajesh Kumar Hardasani reaffirmed the commitment of minority communities to promoting interfaith harmony and called for an end to sectarian divisions.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on the need for strengthened coordination among district administrations, law-enforcement agencies, and religious leaders to maintain communal harmony. The Chief Minister assured continued collaboration with NPAC and PPAC Sindh to enhance peace messaging and community outreach efforts.
