Sindh Chief Minister Honors Wheelchair Cricket Team for Asia Cup Victory

Karachi, The Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (R) Maqbool Baqer, hosted a ceremony at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to honor the wheelchair cricket team for their triumph in the Asia Cup. The Chief Minister announced a reward of one lakh rupees and a medal of honor for each team member.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the ceremony saw the participation of Secretary DAPD Taha Farooqui, Senator Kishore Zahra, and other senior officials. Chief Minister Baqer praised the wheelchair cricket team for their remarkable achievement in the Asia Cup, highlighting that their victory symbolizes not only determination but also the embodiment of self-confidence and resilience. He stressed that this win holds special significance for differently-abled persons, demonstrating their integral role in society.

The Chief Minister reiterated the commitment of the Sindh government to integrating disabled individuals into mainstream society and vowed to fully implement the Sindh Persons with Disabilities Act 2018. He emphasized the government’s dedication to providing equal opportunities, access, employment, and respect to all individuals, regardless of ability. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) was commended for its effective service.

Secretary DAPD Taha Farooqui noted the Sindh government’s initiatives for special children, including the establishment of a gym center in Golestan Johar Centre. The Chief Minister concluded the event by distributing checks and medals to the victorious wheelchair cricket team members, underlining the Sindh government’s support for those who contribute positively to society.
