Shutdown in IIOJK tomorrow against conviction of Yasin Malik in fake case

Srinagar, May 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, complete shutdown will be observed tomorrow against the conviction of illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in a concocted case by a notorious National Investigation Agency court.

According to Kashmir Media Service, call for the strike has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and is fully supported by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and other civil society organizations including traders and students unions.

JKLF chairman Yasin Malik was convicted by an NIA court on Thursday in a manifestly dubious and motivated case, filed against him by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2017. All Parties Hurriyat Conference while describing JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik’s conviction by NIA court as a mockery of justice has expressed serious concern over the plight of all incarcerated Hurriyat leaders, workers, human rights activists, journalists and common citizens languishing in jails in occupied Kashmir and India.

APHC General Secretary Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani in a statement in Srinagar reiterated the pro-freedom amalgam’s call for complete shutdown in occupied Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow (Tuesday) against the conviction of Yasin Malik in a fake case. He also appealed to the Kashmiris living across the world to hold protests on the day against the sham verdict by the biased Indian court as well as other atrocities perpetrated by Indian occupational troops on the Kashmiri people. He also urged upon the international community to come forward to save the Kashmiris from Hindutva terrorism.

He termed the NIA court’s verdict a blot in the face of Indian judiciary. He said that India wants to hang Yasin Malik the way it hanged Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru in Delhi’s Tihar jail.

Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani said that hundreds of Kashmiris have been arrested and implicated in fabricated cases and put behind bars after abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August 2019. These detainees, he said, have been shifted to different Indian jails and kept in inhuman conditions by jail authorities. They have been kept in solitary confinement and deprived of all medical facilities and other basic needs.

APHC General Secretary specially expressed concern over the deteriorating health of ailing pro-freedom leaders who are not provided treatment despite strong advice of doctors. He said that detainees are not produced before courts on time and their relatives are not allowed to meet them.

He appealed to the international community, the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to play their role in saving the life of illegally detained Kashmiri pro-freedom leader implicated in concocted and politically motivated charges by the Modi regime.
