Islamabad: International Women’s Day serves as both a celebration and a call to action, according to a statement from Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Human Rights. The day highlights the contributions of women and girls in shaping families, communities, and the nation, while also emphasizing the ongoing responsibility to pursue equality and dignity for all women.

According to Press Information Department, this year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” urges society to move beyond words to ensure that women and girls live free from discrimination, violence, and injustice. The theme advocates for equal opportunities, aiming to address the serious challenges that women in Pakistan face, including gender-based violence, harassment, and emerging threats like cyber harassment and online abuse.

The statement calls for stronger protections, increased awareness, and collective action to maintain safe and respectful physical and digital spaces for women. Senator Tarar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing equality and ensuring women and girls have full access to their rights and opportunities.

The minister concluded by urging renewed pledges to support women and girls globally, with the aim of building a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.
