Islamabad: In a message commemorating International Women’s Day, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities for women and girls in the digital realm. The event highlighted the theme ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,’ focusing on the necessity of tangible progress in digital inclusion.

According to Press Information Department, Ms. Khawaja underscored the critical role that access to technology, digital literacy, and safe online spaces play in empowering women and girls. She noted the increasing contributions of women in Pakistan’s technology and entrepreneurial sectors, while acknowledging ongoing challenges such as limited access to opportunities and online harassment.

The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing digital inclusion and promoting women’s participation in technology. She outlined initiatives aimed at improving digital skills, supporting women-led innovation, and bolstering protections against online harassment. These efforts are intended to foster a digital ecosystem where women can confidently learn, work, and lead.
