Islamabad: The Chairman Senate of Pakistan engaged in a telephonic conversation on Sunday with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan to address the evolving regional situation and discuss issues of mutual interest.

According to Press Information Department, the Chairman Senate extended Pakistan’s solidarity to the Government and people of Azerbaijan following recent drone attacks on Azerbaijani territory. He emphasized that these attacks breach international law and the principles governing sovereign state relations, posing a threat to regional peace and stability.

The Chairman Senate assured Azerbaijan of Pakistan’s understanding of its security concerns and reiterated support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security. He referenced recent discussions between the leaders and foreign ministers of both nations, underscoring Pakistan’s unwavering support.

Reflecting on the enduring partnership between the two countries, the Chairman Senate emphasized the necessity of dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means of reducing tensions and fostering lasting peace and stability in the region. He also highlighted the importance of restraint from all parties involved.

Additionally, the Chairman Senate expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for assisting in the evacuation of 113 Pakistani nationals from Iran, facilitated through the Astara border crossing with Azerbaijan, where authorities provided visas on arrival and facilitated onward travel.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to maintaining close relations. Both parties voiced confidence that their strong partnership will continue to positively contribute to regional and broader peace, stability, and cooperation.
