Islamabad, January 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Senate Committee was briefed in-camera by the Commandant FC KPK, Additional IGP, KPK, Additional IGP, Balochistan, Member (Policy) NACTA, DG Balochistan Levies Force about the law and order situation in KPK and Balochistan. The Committee appreciated and acknowledged the sacrifices of Law Enforcement Agencies for restoration of peace and their continuous struggle in war against terrorism.
The Committee unanimously recommended that the financial needs of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) must be fulfilled and monetary compensations should be given to the martyrs and injured personnel.
After briefing, the Committee was of unanimous opinion that the matter will be taken up with the Provincial Govt’s/Federal Government so that the financial needs of the LEAs may be fulfilled for their capacity building and infrastructure development. The Committee further decided to look into the necessary legislative amendments to strengthen the LEAs.
Deliberating on the murderous attack on Ms. Maliha Malik and her coordinator Mr. Arsalan Malik. Ms. Maliha Malik apprised the committee about the particulars of incident and reiterated that Sindh police is not complying in her pursuit of getting justice for herself. Senator Mohsin Aziz questioned as to why the FIR has not been registered yet and whether the accused has not arrested or not.
DIG Larkana Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh informed that FIR was registered on same day and the accused has been released on bail. The Chair directed that protection should be provided to Ms. Maliha Malik and the matter shall be resolved on priority basis and report of same shall be presented before committee in next seven days.
Furthermore, the committee was briefed on matter of public importance relating to incidents of killing of labourers in District Harnai Balochistan. Additional IGP Balochistan Constabulary Salman Chaudhary apprised the committee that two labourers were injured not killed in the aforementioned incident and the others four who were abducted have also been released.
He further added that these criminals’ attempts intend to impede the process of development and progress in the province and Balochistan Police is working vigorously for the maintenance of law and order in province and in the elimination of state enemy elements.
Senator Mohsin Aziz reiterated that seven months have passed and report on subject matter has not submitted before the committee yet. He directed the Additional IGP to submit report before the committee on the said matter in next fifteen days.
The meeting was attended by Senator Saifullah Abro, Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Senator Shahadat Awan, Senator Fawzia Arshad, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Senator Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, Senator Kamran Murtaza, Additional Secretary for Ministry of Interior Momin Agha, DIG Larkana Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh, Additional IGP Baluchistan Constabulary Salman Choudhry and other concerned officers were also in attendance.
