Mohsin Naqvi Directs Strict Measures on Passport Issuance Amid Immigration Concerns

Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued directives to prioritize the completion of legal formalities related to new passport issuance requirements, aiming to curb illegal immigration and beggary.

During a meeting at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, Naqvi emphasized the need for full implementation of measures to block the passports of deported individuals. This move is intended to act as a deterrent against unauthorized entry and exit.

The Interior Minister reviewed the newly installed machine-readable and electronic passport machines, which are expected to boost the passport office’s printing capacity, expediting the issuance process for citizens.

Naqvi also met with a German team involved in the installation of these machines, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in enhancing Pakistan’s passport services.

Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi announced plans for a mobile app to streamline services for the public. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing immigration challenges.
