Quetta: A Senate panel has given the green light to the Expo Center Quetta project while announcing plans for an additional facility near the city’s airport. This decision came during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce, chaired by Senator Anusha Rahman at Parliament House.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the meeting was attended by various senators, including Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, who underscored the significance of the project. Participants discussed the current status of the Expo Center and the challenges it faces. Concerns about the site’s distance from the airport and its implications for international access were raised by committee members.
Chief Minister Bugti assured the committee of the security and viability of the proposed site, noting its proximity to an operational industrial zone. He also revealed plans to develop a second Expo Center near Quetta Airport to better serve the business community and international delegates. This additional facility’s location will be decided after consulting the Balochistan Cabinet and various stakeholders.
Following detailed discussions, the committee reached a consensus and approved the Expo Center Quetta project, moving it a step closer to realization.
