Senate Honors Late Senator Taj Haider with Tributes


Karachi: Senators paid tribute to the late Senator Taj Haider, who passed away last week following a period of hospitalization. In a session held in the Senate, lawmakers expressed their condolences and highlighted Haider’s enduring legacy in democracy and politics.



Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, speaking on behalf of the government, emphasized that Taj Haider’s contributions to democracy and political decency will be remembered. Tarar noted the late senator’s pivotal role in shaping the political landscape.



Senator Sherry Rehman, in her opening address, highlighted Haider’s dedication as a patriot, a recognized writer, and a founding member of the Pakistan People’s Party. Rehman underscored his ideological influence and leadership.



Opposition Leader in the Senate, Syed Shibli Faraz, remarked on Haider’s consistent guidance and wisdom, which served as a source of inspiration for his colleagues throughout his tenure.



At the beginning of the session, the Senate observed Fateha for Taj Haider, former Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad, the mother of Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, victims of the Jaffer Express incident, and law enforcement personnel who lost their lives in various terrorist incidents.



In a gesture of solidarity, the Senate also offered prayers for Palestinians affected by the ongoing violence in Gaza.
