Multan: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, while addressing media representatives at the Shrine of Hazrat Musa Pak Shaheed on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, highlighted the importance of including the poor and deserving in celebrations and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He emphasized that affluent individuals should ensure the underprivileged are part of the festivities.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Gillani underscored the need for special prayers for the security, progress, peace, and stability of the country, as well as for the oppressed Muslims of Kashmir and Palestine. He acknowledged Pakistan’s role in regional peace efforts and condemned terrorism, stating that the nation remains united against it. He also addressed the 28th Constitutional Amendment, asserting that all decisions will align with the Constitution and Parliament.
Gillani urged political parties to provide relief in the upcoming budget and called for consensus on provincial matters, citing Bilawal Bhutto’s statement on provincial issues. He noted the significance of proper fund utilization in South Punjab and emphasized the role of parliamentarians in legislation over local governance tasks.
Highlighting Pakistan’s relations with China, Gillani pointed to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a source of future prosperity and employment. He stressed the importance of constitutional adherence for political stability and expressed his commitment to strengthening democratic processes without obstructing the government.
Addressing the gymkhana issue, he stated that while he had facilitated the project’s initial stages, further decisions rest with the government.
