Islamabad: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in achieving sustainable peace, cautioning against confrontation as a means to resolve conflicts.
According to Radio Pakistan, Gilani made these remarks while addressing the “Paigham-e-Islam” Conference in Islamabad. He highlighted Pakistan’s consistent efforts to promote de-escalation through restraint, responsibility, and strategic prudence. Stressing the country’s commitment to strengthening ties within the Muslim world, Gilani proposed enhanced coordination among international forums such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Arab League, and Inter-Parliamentary Union. The aim, he noted, is to establish a structured framework for dialogue, mediation, and peaceful dispute resolution.
The Chairman also urged the international community to transcend divisions and work collectively for peace, stability, and shared prosperity. He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to support and lead efforts toward achieving these goals.
