Seminar in Islamabad Highlights Human Rights Violations in Kashmir and Palestine

Islamabad, A seminar organized by Youth Forum Kashmir in collaboration with the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) brought together speakers to discuss human rights issues in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the event focused on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with specific case studies on IIOJK and Palestine. Nader Alturk, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the State of Palestine, addressed the severe human rights violations faced by Palestinians and called for urgent global action.

Sheikh Abdul Mateen of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter also spoke at the seminar, highlighting the serious human rights issues in both Kashmir and Palestine. He questioned the apparent indifference of global human rights champions to the situations in these regions.

The seminar also featured insights from Adnan Haider, an anchorperson, who emphasized the critical role of educated youth in advocating for the rights of Kashmiris and Palestinians. Ms Mumtaz Mughal, Regional Director of Aurat Foundation, and journalist Ms. Shanila Ammar, underscored the unfulfilled fundamental right to live a free life in IIOJK and Palestine.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Razak stressed the importance of youth involvement in raising awareness about these human rights violations. Zaman Bajwa, Executive Director of YFK, thanked the audience and SZABIST University for their participation and encouraged students to use their writing as a tool to speak out against global human rights violations.

The seminar, attended by a large number of university students and civil society representatives, served as a platform to shed light on the ongoing human rights challenges in IIOJK and Palestine, reinforcing the call for international attention and action.
