ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and leaders from VEON and JazzWorld convened to discuss the digitalisation of financial services, focusing on enhancing the distribution and accessibility of regulated financial products. The discussions aimed at leveraging technology to broaden retail participation in financial markets and improve access to investment, savings, and insurance services.
According to Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu met with VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu, JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim, and Syed Zaheer Mehdi, alongside SECP Commissioner Ali Farid Khawaja. The meeting underscored the importance of digital platforms in expanding access to financial services and highlighted the necessity of public awareness for financial literacy and investor education.
The leadership from VEON and JazzWorld reiterated their commitment to the Pakistani market, noting investments of approximately $11 billion over the past three decades and plans to inject an additional $1 billion in the next three years. The dialogue concluded with an agreement that digital expansion must be accompanied by increased public knowledge of financial products, responsible investment, and financial planning.
