Islamabad: The High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, H.E. Ms. Fatou Harerimana, met with the Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, to explore avenues of bilateral cooperation, focusing on gender equality and human rights. The meeting highlighted the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration in gender promotion, family welfare, and child development.

According to Press Information Department, the MoU, signed in Kigali, is a significant step in enhancing cooperation between Rwanda and Pakistan. It includes joint initiatives, exchange programs, and capacity-building efforts to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, family protection, and child development. The High Commissioner commended Pakistan’s efforts in these areas and expressed an interest in further collaboration to share experiences and practices.

Both parties discussed enhancing institutional cooperation through knowledge sharing and technical collaboration, with a particular focus on women’s political participation and gender mainstreaming. The Rwandan delegation shared insights into their own progress in gender equality. The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a commitment to deepen their partnership and strengthen relations in areas of shared interest.
