Beijing: In a collaborative effort to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, the Pakistan Embassy College Beijing (PECB) and the Women Empowerment and Development Society in Asia-Africa (WEDS.AA) organized an event that highlighted the launch of the ‘WEDSTAR: The AI Picture Book International Co-Creating Project.’

According to Press Information Department, the event featured H.E. Mr. Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, as the Chief Guest. Ambassador Hashmi emphasized the occasion’s significance, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. He commended the women leaders, writers, scholars, scientists, and entrepreneurs from both nations for their contributions to strengthening bilateral ties. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to women’s empowerment and underscored the importance of equal access to education and opportunities for women in fostering an inclusive society.

Dr. Zhao Meiling, President of WEDS.AA, described the initiative as an opportunity to harness AI for women’s development and inspire future generations across Asia and Africa. The event also marked the formal launch of the WEDSTAR International AI Painting Co-creation Project, announced by H.E. Mr. Gaetan Michel Siew Hew Sam, Ambassador of Mauritius.

Participants engaged in an art session, creating paintings on varied themes, which were then transformed through AI in real-time, garnering appreciation from attendees. The gathering was attended by Chinese dignitaries, ambassadors, diplomatic envoys, and representatives from cultural associations in Beijing.
