Rizwan Welcomes US IDFC’s Interest in Pakistan’s Key Economic Sectors


Washington: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, expressed his approval of the US International Development Finance Corporation’s (IDFC) interest in investing in crucial sectors of Pakistan’s economy. This was highlighted during his meeting with the CEO of IDFC, Benjamin Black, in Washington. The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral partnerships and cooperation in investment, particularly in energy, infrastructure, ports, minerals, and information technology.



According to Radio Pakistan, both parties evaluated the progress of ongoing and potential projects and agreed to appoint dedicated focal points to ensure consistent advancement by prioritizing engagement opportunities. Ambassador Sheikh emphasized that a robust economic partnership would enhance the bilateral relationship’s significance and longevity. During the meeting, he also presented an official FIFA World Cup 2026 soccer ball, Trionda, as a gift, symbolizing Pakistan’s manufacturing potential. Benjamin Black commended the ball’s quality and reiterated IDFC’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s socio-economic development and infrastructure improvements.
