Quetta Cracks Down on Underage Water Tanker Drivers to Enhance Road Safety

Quetta: In a decisive move to curb frequent road accidents, the district administration of Quetta has implemented a ban on underage drivers operating water tankers across the city. This decision was solidified during a meeting led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anwar Kakar, which included representatives from the Water Tanker Union.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, ADC Kakar highlighted the concerning trend of accidents involving water tankers, many of which are attributed to underage drivers. The practice of issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to minors, which allows them to operate these large vehicles, was specifically condemned as illegal and dangerous.

During the meeting, strict instructions were issued to all assistant commissioners to enforce the ban vigorously. Measures include stopping tankers driven by underage drivers, arresting the vehicle owners, and sealing the water supply points involved in these violations. The administration also initiated legal actions against union representatives who facilitate these breaches of safety regulations.

This initiative aims to significantly enhance road safety in Quetta, ensuring that such critical transport activities are conducted by qualified and legally compliant drivers.
