Islamabad: Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has expressed his nation’s full support for Pakistan’s peace efforts in a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The discussion highlighted Qatar’s commitment to aiding Pakistan in its diplomatic endeavors and fostering regional stability.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the call, the Amir congratulated Prime Minister Sharif on Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements, particularly the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran. The Amir acknowledged the Prime Minister’s leadership in these efforts and reiterated Qatar’s steadfast support. The Prime Minister, in turn, expressed gratitude for Qatar’s backing and highlighted the crucial roles played by other supportive nations, including Qatar, in these peace efforts.
The telephone call also touched upon the recent technical-level talks held in Burgenstock, with both leaders expressing satisfaction with the progress and emphasizing the importance of maintaining positive momentum. They agreed on the need to protect the negotiations from any detractors to ensure their success.
In addition to discussing diplomatic efforts, the Amir extended condolences for the loss of a Pakistani national in a fire incident at the Barzan gas facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City. Prime Minister Sharif expressed appreciation for the Amir’s concern and acknowledged Qatar’s support for the Pakistani community, which numbers over 300,000 in the country.
The leaders also discussed future engagements, with Prime Minister Sharif inviting the Amir to visit Pakistan. The Amir expressed his willingness to visit later this year to further discuss bilateral cooperation and regional issues. Both leaders agreed to continue their close coordination in the coming days.
