Lahore: The Punjab Police has deported 37,000 Afghan nationals and other illegally residing foreign nationals from the province, including Lahore, as part of an ongoing evacuation process. Currently, 214 individuals are held at various points for further action.
According to Punjab Police, the deportees include 14,954 men, 7,254 women, and 14,783 children. Among them were 11,145 holders of Proof of Residence, 11,137 Afghan Citizen Card holders, and 14,709 other foreign nationals living without legal status. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, stated that security remains heightened and the repatriation process adheres to international laws.
