LAHORE: Punjab Police have stepped up their intelligence-based operations, conducting 45 search and sweep missions in the past 24 hours as part of an ongoing crackdown across the province. The operations, directed by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, resulted in questioning 1,533 individuals and arresting four suspects, according to a spokesperson for the Punjab Police.

The spokesperson also noted that 357 combing operations were carried out, which involved screening 9,546 individuals deemed suspicious. These efforts led to the detention of 36 suspects. Among those apprehended were 147 proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes, 65 court absconders, and 27 habitual criminals.

In addition to detentions, authorities recovered a significant quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition from criminal elements. During the actions against criminals, two individuals were neutralized, and three were arrested in injured condition.

Punjab Police are also conducting mock exercises to enhance their preparedness against terrorist threats and criminal activities. These exercises involve collaboration among several law enforcement agencies, including the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch, Elite Force, and Rescue 1122.
