Islamabad: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has pledged to take measures aimed at supporting the welfare and facilitation of overseas Pakistanis. During his address at the inaugural Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad, he highlighted the importance of protecting the interests of expatriates, particularly against illegal land seizures.

Sardar Ayaz emphasized the need for stringent penalties for individuals involved in land grabbing schemes targeting overseas Pakistanis. He suggested that new legislation could be pursued in collaboration with relevant ministries and provincial governments to address this issue.

Acknowledging the vital role of overseas Pakistanis as ambassadors of the country, Sardar Ayaz noted their significant contributions to various fields. He also recognized the positive impact of remittances from expatriates on the national economy. Furthermore, he advocated for the development of online platforms to minimize the need for expatriates to physically visit embassies.

The convention also featured remarks from Pakistan’s envoys stationed in different countries. Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, praised the expatriate community for their crucial economic contributions. He noted the record remittances of $4.1 billion sent by overseas Pakistanis in a single month, underscoring their role in bolstering the country’s financial stability.
