Islamabad: Pakistan reported a record $4.1 billion in remittances last month, marking the highest amount ever received in a single month. This surge is part of a broader trend over the fiscal year, with remittances totaling $28.1 billion over the first nine months, a 33% increase from the previous year.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif extended thanks to overseas Pakistanis for their contributions, as highlighted in a statement from his office. The statement noted that the $4.1 billion received in March represented a 37.4% increase compared to the same month last year.

The Prime Minister referenced the Overseas Pakistanis convention in Islamabad, suggesting that the remittance figures reflect the commitment and confidence of expatriates in Pakistan’s economic policies. He characterized overseas Pakistanis as a “valuable asset” whose efforts abroad not only enhance national pride but also bolster the domestic economy.

Sharif assured overseas Pakistanis that the government remains dedicated to facilitating their contributions, emphasizing the nation’s pride in their achievements and the economic benefits they provide back home.
