Punjab police got landmark achievement in Nankana, inter-district dacoity gang arrested for robbing Sikh community houses 

Lahore, March 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sheikhupura Regional Police Officer Mirza Faran Baig said that on the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan, measures are being taken on priority basis to protect the lives and property of Sikh and their religious places in Nankana Sahib. All resources are being utilized for the protection of property and lives of citizens. He said that Nankana police team has arrested three accused including the ringleader of inter-district dacoity gang who robbed the houses of Sikh citizens. Illicit weapons, 03 million cash, 25 tola golden jewelry and a vehicle and a motorcycle have also been recovered. These views were expressed by Sheikhupura Regional Police Officer Mirza Faran Baig while addressing a press conference with District Police Officer Capt (retd) Mansoor Aman and notables of Sikh community at RPO Office Sheikhupura.

Sheikhupura Regional Police Officer Mirza Faran Baig told media persons that the accused of inter-district Mushtaq alias Kali ringleader of dacoity gang used to enter houses at gunpoint and commit incidents. This dacoity gang committed four dacoities in January and February at Nankana and Sikh community was specially targeted.

On January 15, Kali ringleader of dacoity gang broke into Sardar Jaswant Singh’s house in Nankana, took the women and children hostage, snatched 5 million rupees in cash, 25 tola of gold jewellery and two Rado watches and fled.

The Sikh community is the cultural, social and global identity of Nankana district and resolving this case had become a top priority for the Nankana police. As Regional Police Officer, I visited Nankana Sahib along with DPO Nankana Captain (retd) Mansoor Aman and met the Sikh community at Gurdwara Janam Asthan and assured them of all possible cooperation.

RPO Sheikhupura Mirza Faran Baig further said that Mushtaq alias Kali Dacoity gang consists of five accused whose leader is Mushtaq alias Kali on whom there are 24 cases of robbery. These gangs used to commit serious crimes in different districts of Punjab like Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhelum, Rahim Yar Khan and Nankana.

In Nankana district, 25 tolas of gold jewellery were snatched from the house of a well-known citizen of Faizabad police station namely Haq Nawaz. Likewise in area of police station Mangta Niwala 12 tola jewellery and 03 lacs cash were snatched. In housing colony Nankana 06 tola jewellery and pump action were snatched.

Similarly, in area of Bacheeki, 6.5 lacs were snatched from a mobile shop. RPO Sheikhupura Mirza Faran Baig told that, Nankana police under leadership of DPO Nankana captain retired Mansoor Awan and SP investigation Mian Muhammad Akmal scientifically undertook the action and arrested Mushtaq alias Kali, (the ringleader of dacoity gang) Wasim Akram and Basharat alias Kala and also recovered 25 tolas of gold jewellery, 3 million cash, 02 Rado watches, pump action, two pistols, motorcycle and car used in the incident.

RPO Mirza Faran Baig further said that so far three accused have been arrested in which Mushtaq alias Kali was involved in 24 incidents of dacoity. Wasim Akram was involved in 8 incidents while Basharat alias Kala was involved in 7 incidents whereas 02 accused Sajjad and Sarwar are yet to be arrested.

RPO Sheikhupura further said that we are also grateful to the dignitaries of the Sikh community who trusted the police and provided all possible assistance in the case. He further said that further investigation into the case is underway and The Sikh community members expressed satisfaction over the performance of Nankana police in arresting the accused and thanked the Punjab police.
