Punjab Police Enhances Security Measures for Chinese and Foreign Nationals

Lahore: In a key security meeting led by the Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, significant enhancements to the security protocols for Chinese and other foreign nationals across Punjab were announced. The focus is to make the safety measures more stringent and foolproof, emphasizing the importance of specialized transportation and surveillance upgrades.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 08 October 2024, the meeting chaired by Dr. Usman Anwar underscored the priority of safeguarding foreign nationals, particularly the Chinese, who are involved in various projects within the province. Dr. Anwar directed the implementation of bulletproof vehicles for their transport and heightened vigilance at their residences, workplaces, and project sites. He tasked Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) with personal oversight of these upgraded security operations. Further directives were issued to improve the security infrastructure at sites frequented by Chinese nationals, including enhancements to CCTV systems, access controls, boundary fortifications, and watchtower facilities.

The meeting saw the participation of high-ranking officials such as the Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IG Punjab, CCPO Lahore, and the MD of the Safe Cities Authority. It also included remote inputs via video link from additional senior officers, including the Additional IG South Punjab and various RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs, reflecting a coordinated approach to this critical issue.
