Lahore: In response to directives from Inspector General Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, the Punjab Police maintained a high alert status to ensure strict security measures during Christian worship and prayer events in churches throughout the province, including Lahore. This heightened security comes amid concerns over the situation on the western border.
According to Punjab Police, IG Punjab instructed Regional and District Police Officers to enhance security at churches, urging supervisory officers to personally inspect security arrangements at these and other significant locations. Additional police personnel and snipers were stationed at sensitive churches, while the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite Force teams conducted effective patrols in the vicinity of these religious sites.
IG Punjab emphasized the need for deployed officers to remain vigilant and monitor potential threats. Ongoing search and sweep operations are being conducted around churches, Christian neighborhoods, and other sensitive areas. Abdul Kareem also called upon religious scholars, the Christian community, and peace committee members to actively contribute to fostering interfaith harmony.
