Punjab Police Arrest Over 100 in Kite Flying Crackdown in Lahore

Lahore, The Punjab Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal kite flying and the use of metal strings, resulting in over 100 arrests in a single day, under the directives of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar.

According to Punjab Police, the operation led to the registration of more than 100 cases across the province, with a total of 110 individuals detained for violating the ban. In addition to the arrests, law enforcement officers confiscated 35,250 kites and 622 spinning wheels. The spokesperson for Punjab Police revealed that in the last month alone, 3,328 cases were registered and 3,461 suspects were arrested province-wide, with the seizure of 212,881 kites and 14,514 spinning wheels.

Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against the manufacturing, selling, and flying of kites with metal strings, citing public safety concerns. The police are also actively installing protective wire guards on motorcycles to prevent accidents caused by metal strings. The campaign reflects a concerted effort between law enforcement and the community to curb the perilous activities associated with kite flying.
