Punjab Police Accelerate Upgradation of Check Posts to Combat Crime in Kacha Areas

Lahore, The Punjab Police are intensifying efforts to upgrade check posts in the province’s Kacha areas, aiming to bolster the frontline defense against banditry, terrorism, and other criminal elements. Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, highlighted the critical role these check posts play in safeguarding the provincial borders and stressed the urgency of completing construction and repairs.

According to Punjab Police, Dr. Anwar’s remarks came during a review meeting at the Central Police Office, where the progress of the upgradation work was assessed. He commended the dedication of officers stationed at the border check posts, particularly in the Rajanpur district, where they remain vigilant throughout the year, securing citizens against threats. Despite challenges posed by adverse weather conditions, including heavy rains and floods, the deployed police teams have steadfastly maintained their positions, contributing to the clearance of over 61,500 acres from criminal control last year.

The meeting underscored the commitment to equip border police check posts across Punjab with superior human resources, modern infrastructure, and technological advancements. This initiative was discussed in detail, with participation from Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, RPO Bahawalpur, RPO DG Khan, and related District Police Officers (DPOs) via video link. RPOs from Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan provided updates on the development work underway at the check posts.

Also present were Additional IG Welfare and Finance Riaz Nazir Gara, Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzada Sultan, DIG Operations Punjab Waqas Nazir, and various AIGs, all of whom contributed to the deliberations on ensuring the timely provision of modern resources and facilities to the teams at the border check posts.
