LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed all relevant departments to maintain a high state of alertness in response to ongoing monsoon rains, emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring of the situation across the province.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Chief Minister Sharif has mandated that all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners ensure the availability of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) equipment in all districts for the efficient disposal of rainwater. She emphasized the importance of taking proactive steps to mitigate the risk of urban flooding.

The directive also calls for district administrations to prioritize the swift drainage of rainwater from both major and minor areas within cities. The Chief Minister has underscored the necessity of expediting these operations to alleviate public inconvenience.

Chief Minister Sharif reassured citizens that the provincial government is attentive to the challenges posed by the monsoon season and is committed to addressing them promptly. She issued a clear warning that any negligence or complacency in managing rainwater drainage operations will not be tolerated in Lahore or other districts of Punjab.
