LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Pakistan International Auto Show 2026 at the Expo Centre Lahore, marking the commencement of a three-day event aimed at enhancing business linkages and technology transfer in the automotive sector. The event saw participation from local and international companies, with 150 exhibitors, including 44 international and 43 local representatives showcasing their latest innovations in cars, motorcycles, and electric vehicles.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the chief minister engaged in an informal meeting with industrialists from the automobile industry, emphasizing the sector’s role in industrial development, investment, and employment. Maryam Nawaz Sharif reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to fostering local production, investment, technology, and innovation. The show is expected to facilitate increased business linkages and investment.

The event featured notable contributions from representatives of the electric vehicle industry, who lauded the Green Taxi and CM Bike Schemes as initiatives of Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Tractor manufacturers also expressed their appreciation for the Green Tractor Scheme, noting its impact on strengthening the local tractor manufacturing industry. The chief minister toured the show, inspecting a range of products, including electric vehicles and biogas models, demonstrating a particular interest in an electric ambulance. Prominent brands such as Suzuki, Kia, GAC, Chery, Sazgar, BYD, G-Tour, Hyundai, and Honda were present, showcasing their latest offerings and underscoring the event’s significance in promoting “Made in Pakistan” products.
