PARIS, The streets of Paris witnessed a demonstration organized by the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Forum, France, as a mark of solidarity with the inhabitants of what they term “Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.” The event was part of Kashmir Black Day commemorations, drawing attention to issues faced by the Kashmiri people.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration saw significant participation from the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities based in France. Participants held banners and placards depicting concerns and critiques related to Indian actions in the region.
Speakers at the event pointed to October 27, 1947, as a particularly grim period in history, alluding to the beginning of a longstanding conflict. They asserted that India has perpetuated a climate of fear in the disputed region. They highlighted the importance of showcasing what they described as India’s oppressive stance on Kashmir and pledged to raise concerns about the region’s residents’ rights and India’s actions on international platforms.
The event culminated with a call to the global community, urging them to recognize and address what they referred to as Indian state-sponsored terrorism in the region and to ensure the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, aiming for lasting peace.
