Protest held outside Indian consulate in Chicago over blasphemous remarks

Chicago, June 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Muslim groups held a protest outside the Indian consulate in Chicago, the US, against insulting remarks on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by top members of India’s ruling Hindutva Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The protesters demanded strict actions against individuals involved in the attacks on Islam and Muslims in India. The protest was joined by scores of non-Muslims from nearby neigbourhoods. They also expressed their solidarity with the oppressed Muslim community in India. The protest site was reverberating with the slogans of “Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah” and “La Illaha Illallah Muhammad ur Rasul ullah” on this occasion.

Addressing the crowd, activist Dr Qutbuddin said that Muslims can tolerate everything but they cannot tolerate any kind of insult to their prophet. Dr Khursheed Mallick, president of Chicago-based human rights group Justice for All, said, “We not only condemn the insult to our Prophet but we also demand strict action against the culprits.”

Abdullah Mitchell, executive director of a Muslim group named as CIOGC said, “Now is the time for Muslims to stick to their religion and pour tireless efforts to protect Islam and sanctity of the Prophet.” The event was also addressed by activists, Shahnawaz Khan and Irshad Khan.
