New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman of Bangladesh during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The leaders reviewed bilateral relations, expressing satisfaction with the positive momentum in ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif congratulated Bangladesh on its new role as the President of the 81st UNGA and assured Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh’s objectives within the United Nations. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to deepening beneficial bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Rahman reciprocated by acknowledging the positive trajectory of the relationship and expressed his government’s desire to enhance ties. Both leaders committed to strengthening cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, connectivity, education, tourism, and people-to-people contacts.

The discussions also covered regional and global developments, with both Prime Ministers highlighting the need for continued coordination in multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations.
