Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed federal ministries to expedite the digitization of pertinent data for integration into the national digital platform. The directive was issued during a meeting focused on the Digital Nation Pakistan Programme, aimed at centralizing government services and enhancing citizen access.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted the pivotal role a central national data center would play in service delivery and citizen facilitation. He stressed that consolidating data from various government sectors into a single platform could significantly contribute to the country’s economic growth. Sharif also pointed out the importance of data sharing among departments, citing its success in implementing the fuel subsidy scheme for needy segments of society.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of digitizing ministry performance and relevant data as a measure to combat corruption and improve institutional management. Additionally, he commended the Ministry of Health for its efforts, in collaboration with provincial governments, to develop a universal medical record and implement QR codes to ensure quality medicine distribution nationwide.
The meeting was briefed on the progress of digitization in key public service sectors, with a particular focus on health and agriculture, as these are being prioritized for public convenience. Various federal ministries presented updates on their services, performance, and data provision to the central data center.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need for ministries to complete the digitization process within the designated timeframe, coordinating with provincial governments and relevant departments to achieve this objective.
