Bishkek: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a three-day official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic from August 31 to September 2, 2026, at the invitation of President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov. The visit will encompass participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting, alongside bilateral meetings in the Kyrgyz Republic. Accompanying the Prime Minister will be Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Communication Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, and senior officials.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during his stay in Bishkek, the Prime Minister will attend the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting and the SCO Plus Summit. Pakistan is set to assume the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State for the term 2026-2027. The visit will also feature bilateral discussions with participating country leaders and the inauguration of the World Nomad Games on August 31, 2026.

On September 2, 2026, Prime Minister Sharif will engage in comprehensive bilateral talks with President Sadyr Zhaparov. The discussions will review the full spectrum of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations, aiming to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, energy, regional connectivity, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. The leaders will also discuss regional and international developments of mutual interest and cooperation at various fora.

Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic share longstanding relations rooted in shared history, faith, and cultural ties, as well as common aspirations for peace and prosperity in Central and South Asia. The visit is expected to strengthen this partnership by translating political goodwill into practical cooperation, building on momentum from recent high-level exchanges.
