BEIJING: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has committed to providing comprehensive support to Chinese companies aiming to expand their business operations in Pakistan, with the goal of bolstering economic, trade, and technological ties between the two nations.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister made these remarks during a ceremony at the headquarters of IBI Corporation, a prominent Chinese technology firm, in Beijing. During his address, he emphasized the significance of fortifying Pakistan-China economic and commercial cooperation, promoting bilateral trade and investment, and enhancing institutional connections between the business communities of both countries. He highlighted that the deepening of these ties is a fundamental aspect of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
Prime Minister Sharif assured IBI Corporation of full facilitation for the expansion of its business activities in Pakistan. He stated that under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology are among the government’s top priority programs being pursued on an accelerated basis. He also addressed the young participants present, praising them as skilled entrepreneurs and experts, while noting the government’s efforts to provide technical training and skills development opportunities to Pakistani youth.
He further mentioned that the youth represents the future, and Pakistan-China cooperation would be strengthened through their close relations. In addition, the Prime Minister pointed out the vast investment opportunities available in Special Economic Zones under CPEC phase two. He invited Chinese investors to visit the first Special Economic Zone near Port Qasim in Karachi, which spans over 6,000 acres and promises modern infrastructure and facilities.
Upon his arrival at IBI Corporation, Prime Minister Sharif was welcomed by Wang Shaofeng, Party Secretary of Fengtai District Beijing, along with IBI President Qian Xiaojun. The event was attended by representatives from over 150 companies, focusing on cross-border industrial belt practices and enhancing China-Pakistan industrial collaboration.
