Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Pledges Continuation of Fuel Subsidy Scheme


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the fuel subsidy scheme benefiting motorcyclists, Qingqi rickshaw users, and owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc will continue. Over ten million people have already benefited from the initiative, the Prime Minister stated during a meeting in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted the successful implementation of the scheme, noting that more than 21.7 million tokens have been distributed, with approximately 19.4 million redeemed for subsidized fuel. The government has earmarked 75 billion rupees to fund this relief effort.



Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged the collaborative efforts of federal and provincial governments, as well as relevant institutions, in executing the scheme effectively. He expressed gratitude to Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries, Federal Ministries, and all pertinent departments for their support.



In recognition of contributions to the scheme, the Prime Minister announced an award for Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja and presented shields to other officials and teams involved.
