Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have initiated discussions aimed at enhancing trade and cooperation across several key sectors, as part of efforts to achieve tangible outcomes from the forthcoming bilateral Trade Dialogue.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions took place during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, and the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, in Islamabad. The meeting highlighted the potential for expanding trade and investment cooperation in healthcare and life sciences, information technology, agriculture and livestock, financial services, aviation, and minerals-related services.
Minister Khan emphasized the potential for British expertise, technology, and investment to play a pivotal role in advancing modern livestock practices and strengthening commercial linkages. High Commissioner Marriott underscored the necessity of integrating food safety and regulatory standards into sector development to facilitate Pakistani producers’ access to UK and other international markets.
