Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Allocates Rs160 Billion for Development Projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a substantial allocation of Rs160 billion for development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking a decisive step in enhancing the province’s infrastructure and public services. The announcement was made during an address to the Area Representative Development Council of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tribal districts, attended by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the province’s wheat supply needs and ensuring the commodity’s distribution at federal prices, discouraging hoarding practices. Additionally, the government aims to bolster the province’s police force and counter-terrorism capabilities, offer better training, and complete Safe City projects.

The Prime Minister underscored the importance of transparency in utilizing public funds, citing concerns about corruption and the slow pace of development. He pointed to financial irregularities in significant projects, such as a 100-billion-rupee drinking water project scandal and a 37-billion-rupee fraud in Kohistan. The government plans to take steps to curb corruption and ensure proper allocation of funds.

Acknowledging the tribal communities’ sacrifices in combating terrorism, Shehbaz Sharif assured tribal elders of their empowerment in addressing local issues, ensuring justice, and promoting technical education. The Federal Government, in collaboration with provincial authorities and other relevant bodies, aims to foster development, prosperity, and stability in the region.

Tribal elders, in turn, expressed gratitude for the Federal Government’s development initiatives and the constitutional measures taken to end the PTI-led administration in the province. They criticized the previous administration for its handling of terrorism, corruption, and lack of development, pledging their support to the Prime Minister in bridging the gap between the government and the public.
